Freya Allan, 17, may be a relatively unknown Oxfordshire actress, but her upcoming role in Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular medieval fantasy story, The Witcher, could see her reach cult sci-fi status.

Starring opposite Henry Cavill, Jodhi May and MyAnna Buring, Allan will play Ciri, a warrior princess and ward of Cavill’s protagonist Gerait of Rivia. Following the announcement of her casting, the teen courted some controversy from fans of the fantasy series after producers originally hinted they were looking for a BAME actress to play the fictional princess. Prior to The Witcher, Allan starred in Into The Badlands and next appears opposite Rafe Spall and Eleanor Tomlinson in the BBC adaptation of War of the Worlds.
